Ford Model A pickup restoration - Building 10 cm high self-made ramps (September 2018)This month I started with my DIY car ramps.
I have changed the sketches for my construction several times and now it is time to cut the square profiles.
I want to have closed profiles at the end because of rust, etc. This edge will be completely closed by welding.
All profiles are cut to the correct size.
I have welded the end of all profiles. I'll have to grind it for a smooth surface.
In order to swap the abrasive paper of my disc sander, which is fastened with a velcro, you usually have to remove the support table which I found very time consuming and therefore I make it now with a simpler method.
First cut out a sheet of paper with the same size of the grinding wheel.
Now fold the paper, loosen the upper half of the sandpaper from the disk and push the folded paper in between.
Now turn the disk by 180 degrees and you can remove the remaining part of the velcro (see picture) and then …
… pull out the sandpaper upwards.
It's an easy job without dismounting anything.
During assembly, place the unfolded paper behind the sanding paper and move it into position. Once you have reached the right position, you simply pull the paper away and the disc is changed.
