Ford Model A Pickup Restoration - Building New Wheel Covers Part 9 - Fitting the Rings - Mudguard Protection (January 2018)In January, I just did a few small things, since the temperature in the garage was pretty cold.
I wanted to replace the fender pad by a self made version which should cover the whole fender and not only parts of them. I used artificial leather. You can discuss about the color but after some years it will become black anyway :-)
The sewing of the leather was a torture … the leather was a bit too soft and I have only a normal sewing machine - I still managed it, not sooooo nice but functional.
Anyway, the fenders are covered and will not become scratches when I'm working on the engine.
This winter I also want to mount the wheel covers and I will also use such intermediate rings, so that the cover is a little bit protected.
The rings do not fit yet, but I will do that now.
I already used this tool for the holes of the wheel cover.
Put the ring in between and give some pressure …
… and the ring will fit
Everything fits on the outside too. I'll mount the wheel covers later.
