Ford Model A Pickup Restoration - Construction of rubber adapter for 3-leg supports (June 2018)I'm still working on my tools and there are some which are not made yet …
I have already these jack stands.
To lift my Audi and work underneath I want to lift the car at the official positions with such jack rubbers. I ordered the rubbers from China. They smell terrible, like many rubber products from China, even after months … but they fulfill their purpose. Unfortunately, I got the higher version only with a V-groove and I therefore had to modify it as you see on the right side of the picture.
This hard rubber can be easily machined with a milling cutter.
All 4 rubbers are ready, now the adapters for my jack stands are missing.
The required steel has the correct length and can now be bent and welded.
And this is how the finished adapters look like. They can be easily placed on my jack stands and can not slip sideways or tilt.
The rubber can be rotated freely.
Putting under the car, my adapter is holding the car and cannot move.
Now I have 60cm clearance between car underbody and the ground to work without any problems. If necessary, I could raise it up for 10-15 cm more.
Of course, I did the lifting with my own built wheel gripper :-)
