Ford Model A Pickup Restoration - First test of the wiring with electricity (April 2015)All electrical devices have been connected to my switch box and they are all running without smoke or blown fuses …
My switch box under the seat is running perfectly, only two cables were wired the wrong way but in the meantime the light, trafficators, hazard lights, Ahooga horn and even the windshield wiper is running.
I had to make some fine-tuning on the light switch, since the switch was very hard to turn. On the displayed picture on the left you can see the original shape with the three dimples in the black plastic part. I have used a large drill (15 mm) to cut the edge which can be seen on the right hand side. Now I can turn my light switch without any big force.
Since the fall of a screwdriver or a wrench could cause some sparks when they get in contact with the top of the battery, I've made a simple cover out of a 1 mm plastic sheet (PET).
This covers now the poles and interconnections of the cells, protecting them from an accidental short circuit.
Since the wooden dashboard is mounted, I can also mount this part. It is used to fix the windscreen in any position and you can let some fresh air into the cabin on hot summer days.
This is the position when the window is slightly opened.
Since the wiper motor works, I know the two end positions and can also mount the wiper blade in its final position.
I have fixed the instrument panel with a cable, so it was easier to connect the ignition switch and the speedometer cable.
Inside the cabin the side covers were mounted on the driver and passenger side.
Now it looks almost finished.
The seat is missing but the rest of the interior is complete.
