Ford Model A Pickup Restoration - Building New Wheel Covers Part 7 - Grinding, Polishing, Nickel Plating (September 2017)

In September I was able to finish my wheel hubs and they are already back from electroplating.

The main work of the last few weeks was grinding, grinding, … as long until all surfaces were smooth and clean.

It is a pretty dirty job and I did use a lot of abrasive paper.

After each grinding cycle, the gloss increased slightly.

Before I went to the galvanic shop, I wanted to make sure that each wheel hub fits to the rim.

In the last run I polished all parts.

My work is done and everything is ready for nickel plating.

It took me quite a lot of time to make these wheel hubs by myself, but it was worth it and I am very happy with the result.

Here you can see the old and my new weel hub. The old one is just painted with color.
