Ford Model A Pickup Restoration - Various small adjustments - Waxing and polishing the paint (June 2015)

My report is a little bit delayed this month, but I had holidays and after I was working hard in my garage and had no time to update my homepage. But let's see what I have done in June.

First I had to make some minor paint corrections on my hood with a fine brush.

I'm allways using my self made tool which holds the complete hood in a stable position.

These are my self made battery holders.

Under the hood, now everything is completely assembled, including the starter band cover.

The generator starter band was missing too and I also had to replace the fan belt. The old one was a little bit too short, the new one has the correct length now.

The front radiator splash shield is ready for assembly.

But first I must tighten the screws which hold the leaf spring and secure them with cotter pins.

Now I can mount the splash shield and secure on both sides with 2 screws.

The rubber pads for the doors have been made a while ago, but I wanted to test them first and verify whether they have the right size or not. Both doors are closing properly and I can mount them now.

Secured with a nail, the rubbers will now stay in place.

The speedometer cable I also had to install and secure with 2 clips.

To adjust the brakes, I have to put the car on 3 leg supports.

First I check the brake pads and drums - so far everything is ok.

The drums can be re-installed and will be secured with a nut and a cotter pin.

The car is cleaned and I can start polishing it and then seal the surface with wax. I'm using the products form Swissvax, a Swiss based company.

The best way for applying the wax is to do it with your hand until the entire surface is covered.

Ford Model A Restoration June 2015

This is how it looks after application. Now wait a few minutes and wipe off the remaining wax with the help of a microfiber cloth.

Of course, the rims are also polished the same manner and sealed with wax.

Next month, my Ford will be back on wheels and it will run!
